Aims and Objectives of the Society
The purpose of the Rio Grande Valley Horticultural Society is the advancement and development of horticulture. The Society’s aim is to stimulate interest in research and its practical application to the production of fruit, vegetables and ornamentals. At periodic meetings subjects of interest are presented by specialists in their field. These presentations are followed by forums. The Newsletter announces and discusses these programs and brings other news of interest to Society members. The Society sponsors an annual Institute which features outstanding speakers from all parts of the world who present new developments in the field of horticulture. Panel discussions, social get-togethers, and a meal complete the program. The Subtropical Plant Science Journal provides a continuing record of horticultural progress. Along with research reports, talks given at the Institute may be published in Subtropical Plant Science annually. Anyone interested in horticulture can become a member of the Society.
